Musician John Stubblefield
Musician John Stubblefield was born on Sunday February 4, 1945, and he died on Monday July 4, 2005. Stubblefield was born in the United States of America, and he play jazz saxophone, flute, and oboe.
Stubblefield played with the World Saxophone Quartet from 1986 to 1988. He played with bassist Reginald "Reggie" Workman from 1989 to 1993. Stubblefield played with pianist McCoy Tyner in 1984, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard in 1985, and pianist and composer George Allen Russell in 1985. John Stubblefield also served as the jazz ensemble director at Rutgers University for a time period.
John Stubblefield wrote the song Baby Man, which was performed by pianist Mary Lou Williams on the first episode of NPR's Piano Jazz, hosted by jazz pianist Marian McPartland.
