Episode 1: The History of Selmer Saxophones (Details)
I decided to produce this episode because I've been fascinated by Selmer saxophones for a very long time. I've always admired the sound, build quality, and technical features of Selmer saxophones. I produced the episode because I wanted to learn the detailed history of Selmer saxophones: from the very beginning to the relatively new Selmer Supreme.
To produce the episode, I took notes from many reliable and verifiable sources of information on Selmer saxophones. I then used Google's NotebookLM to produce the audio of the two-host episode. I was very happy with how it came out. What NotebookLM produced was very good—the only thing I noticed is that it sometimes mispronounces words, which is understandable.
I produced the video using Free Software as much as possible:
- I did all of the production work on a computer system running Pop!_OS 22.04 GNU/Linux.
- I created the .png image that you see as the background of the Episode 1 video. I used ChatGPT to produce the base image, and I then added the text using the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP).
- NotebookLM generated the audio as a .wav file. I used Shotcut, a Free Software video creator/editor, to merge the .wav audio with the .png image to create the final video in .mp4 format.
- I then uploaded the .mp4 video to YouTube, and I added the title, description, and tags.
For your convenience, I've embedded the Episode 1 video here. Enjoy!
